Urinary Tract Infections
Bringing Samples to the Practice
Please don't bring urine samples to the practice unless specifically asked to do so by a clinician.
If you are over 65 and feel you may have a urinary tract infection, please book a face to face appointment. Please don't bring urine samples to the practice unless this has been requested by your clinician. Unfortunately, the 'dipstick test' available in surgery is less accurate for older persons and runs a risk of false positive or false negative results.
- For safety, it would be better to see you, so we can decide together using clinical judgment what treatment or investigations are most appropriate.
- If you are under 65 then you can visit a pharmacy under the 'Pharmacy First' scheme or book a face to face appointment with us.
- Out of hours please call 111 for further advice.
